Africa CDC 2.0 - Delivering the New Deal
H.E. Dr. Jean Kaseya was appointed as the first Director General of Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in February 2023 by the 36th Africa Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
Upon assuming office on the 20th April 2023, he committed to three fundamental priorities: strengthening the institution by implementing robust governance, fostering technical expertise, and establishing clear authority; ensuring financial sustainability through effective innovative fund generation and effective utilization to achieve tangible outcomes; and enhancing New Public Health Order interventions by enabling swift and effective on-the-ground responses to outbreaks and health-related emergencies faced by our Member States.
